Why your Google listing, website + social media aren’t bringing in enquiries
Most Townsville businesses already have all three - they’re just not set up to work together.
This is something I see often with Townsville businesses - especially tradies and service-based businesses relying on Google for enquiries but not getting consistent work from it.
How people find your business on Google
Most businesses already have a Google listing - but that’s not what determines whether they show up.
When someone searches for your service, Google doesn’t just show every business - it prioritises listings that are properly set up, regularly updated and clearly connected to what the person is looking for.
That’s why some businesses show up consistently, and others don’t. I go through and check:
• how your business categories are set up
• how complete your profile is
• how often your listing is updated
• the quality and consistency of your reviews
• how your listing connects with your website
If you’re not sure how your listing is currently set up, you can read more about how I approach Google Business Profiles here.
What happens when they land on your website
Getting someone to click through to your website is only part of it - what happens next determines whether they actually contact you.
A lot of businesses in Townsville have a website, but it’s not set up in a way that makes it easy for someone to understand what they do, who they help, and how to take the next step.
If that clarity isn’t there, people leave - even if they were ready to enquire. I check:
• your website doesn’t clearly explain what you do
• it’s hard to find how to contact you
• it doesn’t match what people saw on your Google listing
• it feels outdated or inconsistent
• it’s not built with enquiries in mind
If your website isn’t clearly bringing in enquiries, you can read more about how I approach website design here.
Why people check your social media before contacting you
Before reaching out, most people will quickly check your social media - especially in local service-based businesses.
They’re not looking for perfect content - they’re looking for reasons to trust you.
They want to see that you’re active, that your work is consistent and that other people trust you.
If your social media feels inactive, inconsistent, or disconnected from the rest of your business, it can create doubt - even if everything else looks fine.
• whether you’re active and posting
• the type of work you show
• how consistent your content is
• whether your branding matches your website
• how your business comes across overall
Most of the time, it’s not one big issue - it’s a combination of small things that aren’t set up properly.
Where it usually breaks down
Most businesses don’t have a problem with just one part - they have all the pieces in place, but they’re not working together.
Your Google listing might be bringing people in, but your website isn’t converting them.
Your website might look fine, but your social media doesn’t back it up.
Or everything exists - but nothing is aligned.
That’s where enquiries start to drop off.
Most of the time, it’s not that you’re missing something - it’s that nothing is properly connected.
If your business isn’t showing up properly on Google, I’ve broken that down in more detail here.
How it should actually work together
When everything is set up properly, each part of your online presence plays a role.
Your Google listing brings people to your business when they’re searching.
Your website clearly shows them who you are, what you do and how you can help.
Your social media builds trust and reinforces their decision before they reach out.
When those three things are aligned, it becomes much easier for someone to choose your business and get in touch.
That’s when your online presence actually starts bringing in consistent enquiries - not just traffic.
If your business has all of this but isn’t bringing in enquiries, there’s usually something not set up properly - and it’s not always obvious.
I can take a proper look at your online presence and show you exactly what’s working, what’s missing and what to focus on next.
No pressure - just clear direction.
